Representing Victoria in the Cross Country Nationals

Huge congratulations to Thomas Diamond who competed in the Australian Cross Country Championships in Canberra on Saturday 20 August. Thomas placed 6^th out of a field of 35 competitors from all across Australia and ranked as the top runner from the state of Victoria. Thomas completed the three kilometre course in 10min 38sec—only 11 seconds behind the first placed competitor.

Success at the Northcote District Athletics Carnival

Fairfield PS was well represented at the Northcote District Athletics Carnival, held on 19 & 26 August at Collingwood Harriers Track. Forty students were selected to compete—in wet and windy conditions on the 19^th—across track and field events. Many students placed in their respective events, from the relay, to 800m, high jump and discuss.

FPS is also very proud to have a number of our students recognised for attitude of sportsmanship, especially year four participant Uche Ozougwu. Teachers from a number of different schools commented on Uche’s conduct. After placing second in the high jump, Uche shook hands with the winner, impressing the officials. What a great way to live our school values!
