Have you been to the Bundoora Homestead Art Centre?

BundooraThe visual Arts theme at FPS for 2016 is Indigenous Art. All year levels have been exploring indigenous techniques, styles and artists in class. Currently, there is a powerful and challenging exhibition, hosted at the Bundoora Homestead Art Centre (www.bundoorahomestead.com) exploring the impact of the colonisation on our indigenous Australians. If families are interested, this is a wonderful exhibition that would complement our Art curriculum.

  • Re-visioning Histories: June 18, 2016 – August 21, 2016

Re-visioning Histories presents Indigenous and non-Indigenous artists from across Australia. Through a range of media, these artists create objects of attitude – propositions that acknowledge desecration and give licence to contest the many histories and assumptions of Australia’s identity. Curated by Indigenous artist Yhonnie Scarce and Curator at Bundoora Homestead Art Centre, Claire Watson, the exhibition employs the colonial past of the gallery as its starting point to discuss the many potent issues around the history of colonisation and its impact on Indigenous Australians. The featured artists are Fergus Binns, Megan Cope, Vicki Couzens, Nici Cumpston (SA), Will French (NSW), Dale Harding (QLD), Anna Liebzeit, Steaphan Paton, Steven Rhall and Yhonnie Scarce.

There is also a group exhibit by nine local artists from Alphington.

  • NINE LIVES | ALPHINGTON ARTISTS: June 15, 2016 – July 24, 2016

Explore works by nine artists from the Alphington Open Studios. Bringing together disciplines including sculpture, painting, ceramics, works on paper, jewellery and textiles, this diverse exhibition reflects on how experimentation with traditional materials can yield unexpected results. The featured artists are Bridget Foley, Avis Gardner, Sharyn Madder, Beatrice Magalotti, Cetta Pilati, Wendy Roche, Nikos Siouzios, Andrew Sutton and Anne Warren. This is the first time this group of artists has come together to exhibit their works in the one space.
