Thank you to all those parents and helpers who assisted with this year’s Learn to Swim program. I was impressed by the students’ excitement, the progress they made and the help and support of all the adults who assisted with the changing process. Another successful year of swimming at Fairfield PS.

The Northcote District Athletics Carnival was a success with for many Fairfield students. 23 students qualified to compete in the Division Athletics Carnival which will be held on Thursday 6 October at the Meadowglen Athletics Track. Best of luck to all those competing and well done to everyone who participated and get very wet at our District Carnival.

Term four sees the return of interschool sports for our Year 6 students. Students will once again participate in their summer sports chosen way back in term one. Consent and details will be sent home at the beginning of term four.

The Year 5 alternative sports program has just finished four lessons of table tennis and next term we are lucky enough to welcome back fencing. Fencing has been one of the many highlights for the alternative sports program and requires great skill, control, precision and discipline. All of the equipment is provided by the instructor, and lessons will take place in the gym on Friday morning starting week one of term four. En Garde Year 5.

Congratulations to all the girls who played AFL this year with the Parkside girls under 12 team who made it through to the grand final in their first year of football. An amazing achievement, as grand finals do not come round that often. The side consisted of a number of girls from Fairfield Primary School and was coached by a father from school. It is astonishing to watch the rise of girls football. Good luck and have fun all those girls who are currently playing or thinking about playing AFL.
