Vale Ron Sheehan

Ron-SheehanIt is with sadness that we announce to the community that Ron Sheehan, our previous crossing supervisor on Wingrove Street, passed away on Wednesday evening. Ron was well known and a very much liked member of our community.

Ron was the crossing supervisor for many years. He had daily chats to school families and staff, and he kept up to date with all school events. Our office staff had weekly if not daily conversations with Ron. Sometimes these would be about school events, his observations over the school weekend or just a ‘hello’.

Whilst ill, Ron missed not being able to continue with his daily crossing supervision, and having the many interactions he had with Fairfield families.

Our thoughts go out to his family and friends.

Farmer’s Market Thanks to Tamara McKenzie

TM17We would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank Tamara McKenzie—mother  of Ella and Lucy—who has been coordinating the roster of volunteers for the Farmer’s Market over the last two years. This is one of the quiet behind the scenes but highly valued, volunteer roles that Tamara has taken on board. Because of this, the school has had an organised group of volunteers each market day who manage the gate and collect donations for the school. Tamara and her family are moving across to another part of Melbourne and we wish them all the very best. Thank you again Tamara for this dedicated effort each month.

We would also like to welcome and acknowledge a new volunteer parent Aidan Farrell—father of Ciara and Luka—who has offered to take over from Tamara. Thank you Aiden, we hope that you also get to enjoy this aspect of engaging with the community.

Working Bee—Come Help Out

workingbeeCome join us for a whole school Working Bee on Sunday 4 December, from 10am to 2pm.

The focus of the working bee will be on garden maintenance and general tidying up including:

  • Adding plant protection and limited fencing in Kaan’s Winya.
  • Mulching in Kaan’s Winya to ensure plant survival over summer.
  • Clearing the Fairfield Road fence line.

We appreciate as many volunteers as possible—as they say, many hands make light work! We will finish the work with a celebratory sausage sizzle.

If you are able to help us out for part (or all) of the time, please RSVP.
