What a wonderful term one we have had and as we reflect on the time, we can certainly celebrate our achievements and wonder as to how we have managed to fit everything in.
The students from Foundation to Grade 6 have had an engaging rich term of learning and development. Some of the highlights that I have seen:
Foundation – the students have been learning about life at school and what learning looks like. The exploration on the life cycle of the butterfly was one of the highlights.
Grades 1 /2 – opportunities to explore their curious nature and reflect on what it means to be a curious learner – rich questions and discussions, viewing the construction of our new building and working to produce an outstanding Gallery Walk.
Grades 3 /4 – the studies of different cultures and what it means to be Australian. The students have understood that it is not just a simple concept or label but to be Australian, means many things to different people.
Grade 5 – have been learning about different learning styles and how each of us can adopt different styles according to our strengths, interests and dispositions. The camp at the beginning of the term was also a highlight
Grade 6 – the students have been learning about how to be affective citizens through there study of democracy and leadership. They have also been studying Australia at war and the human involvement and implications that extend throughout history. The culmination of learning at the Canberra camp has also been a highlight for the students.
Our first term events and community engagement have been amazing. In eight short weeks we have achieved the following:
Foundation Parent Information Evening
Welcome Picnic
Foundation – Grade 2 Parent Social Evening
Sunday Working Bee
A Fair To Remember
Class Community Liaison Parent formation
Farmer’s Markets – January, February, March
New School Council
We are looking forward to Term Two when the Music Rock Wiz evening will take place.
We have completed the Grade 3/4 classroom refurbishment and finalising Kaan’s Winya in readiness for the start of Term Two. Next, we are eager to take over the new classrooms and have our Grade 1/2 classes settle into their new environment early next term.
I would like to welcome our new School Council and introduce our members for 2016.

It has been a massive achievement that we can all be proud of. It has occurred through the collaboration between staff and parents, supported by the amazing cooperation and abilities of our students to be adaptable, creative and patient. We have all worked together to achieve this and so I wish every family and staff member a restful and rewarding Easter break.
