There have been many highlights for grade six students this term.

Students visited Thornbury High School to work with the year eight students in their science laboratories. They also completed many science activities at school including making sodium chloride and magnesium sulphate crystals, elephant’s toothpaste, rockets, geodes and honeycomb. A parent, Ricky Johnstone, came and worked with the students and assisted them in extracting DNA from kiwi fruit.

The grade six children created characters and developed short animations about their characters. The students worked across different grades on Literacy Day creating fantastic activities related to the shortlisted books.

In mathematics our focus was on fractions and decimals, percentages and ratios. We continued to focus on problem solving using the four processes with fractions and decimals.

We participated in Tournament of Minds and finally, we finished the term by being Art4All Show hosts and attending the Art Show Family Day on Sunday.
