The Grade 1/2 children have been learning vocabulary relating to our unit Bon Appétit, particularly Les Boissons (drinks). We have been playing café/restaurant and enjoying ordering what we like to eat and drink. This might be fun to do at home! Here is some of the vocabulary we are learning:

  • J’ai soif, je voudrais… (I’m thirsty, I would like…)
  • J’ai faim, je voudrais… (I’m hungry, I would like…)
  • J’aime/Je n’aime pas
  • S’il vous plait, Merci, Voilà, Très bien
  • De l’eau, un chocolat chaud, une limonade, un sirop, un jus d’orange, du pain, de la glace…

Grades 3/4 have been learning how to follow and give directions to places En Ville such as la gare, le pont, le parc, la banque, l’hôpital, using a variety of maps in class. As part of our specialist showcase last week, Grade 3/4B performed our French song L’autobus Va en Ville for a gathering of Foundation students and visiting kindergarten children. Alexander Bailey welcomed the group, speaking in both French and English. Students sang the song and did the actions for all the places En Ville. They then taught the visitors how to march en français: gauche- droite- gauche- droite- gauche! The performance was a great success. Thank you to 3/4B for all your energy, fun and learning!
