The culmination of the Fairfield Primary School rebrand has been executed with the relaunch of our school newsletter and website. We hope you like its clean, simplified style and see the school’s core values reflected in the redesign—Respect, Creativity, Excellence, Community.
We thank everyone for their feedback on the new look and feel of the school website and newsletter, both positive and constructive. We are continuing to make improvements.
It can be a challenge to find content on redesigned websites—we miss the familiarity of the old. The best way for families of current students to access relevant information is via the Communications & Community menu. The content in this menu is dynamic and will be updated regularly.
As you have no doubt noticed, our redesigned newsletter pulls its content directly from the website. Check out the Latest News sub-menu for all newsletter content and the most up-to-date details of what’s going on at Fairfield Primary School. Seeing as the newsletter now pulls content directly from the website, there is no newsletter archive as such—all content remains accessible after distribution and is located on the news pages.
Peter Pan Performance
What another wonderful performance that our senior students provided us with last week. Their rendition of Peter Pan was highly engaging and polished. Much credit goes to each student who knew their lines so well, their moves and presence on the stage. The storyline was a great reminder of the significance of childhood and family, two of the important values that we hold dearly in our community. I would like to acknowledge all of the students for their commitment, effort and collaboration in ensuring the production was a success. Much thanks goes to Keri Spence for her
continued enthusiasm and expertise in directing and managing the school performance schedule. As you are possibly aware, this will be one of the final productions for Keri before she takes maternity leave next term. So Keri and the children can be very proud of their parting performance.
Next term, our Grades 3 / 4 students will be performing in Thornbury High School’s production. Already, they are rehearsing their chorus lines with the teachers and students from Thornbury High School. This is a great opportunity for the Fairfield students to work alongside another school.
Our Grade 6 students are finishing off their World War projects as part of their inquiry for semester one. The students have also played a significant ambassadorial role during the ANZAC period with the students leading our school ceremonies as well as participating in the Dawn Service at the Fairfield RSL. It was a cold morning but many of our students and their families were present. It is one of our traditions for our senior students to participate in the Fairfield RSL service. Another end of an era is that this was to be the last occasion that the service will be held at the Fairfield RSL and that a new venue will be organised for 2017. Once again, we can be very proud of our students for the level of respect and sincerity that they entered into this experience with.
To all mothers and special adults in our children’s lives….. I hope you have a special Mother’s Day on Sunday.
Kaan’s Winya
We are very pleased to announce that we are putting the finishing touches on Kaan’s Winya in readiness for the students to have full access. We are planning a special Opening Ceremony on
Wednesday 18 May at 9.00am. We will have a whole school assembly that will be led by an Indigenous elder Ian Hunter, who will conduct a traditional ‘smoking ceremony’ to official open the winya.
All parents are welcome to attend.

Working Bee
Our next Working Bee is being held on Sunday 15 May from 9.00am – 12.00pm.
We will be doing a general grounds tidying up, some weeding and replanting of garden beds. Come along and make a family morning of it. We have a great BBQ at the end and it is generally fun with a bit of work.
Doug Gailbraith – father of Hannah in 3 /4 E, is organising the morning. See you there.
Rock Quiz Evening – Saturday 18 June
Tickets are now available for this event via Trybooking. It is a fabulous night where we enjoy our talented musical community and put our knowledge to the test. It is a lot of fun. Please come along.
Mothers Day Stall
Thank you to Ali Glare, Leeanne Coughlin and Trish Phelan for organising our traditional stall. Once again the children had beautiful gifts to choose from for their mother or special person.
