Term Two is a busy time at FPS for a number of reasons. There are many exciting school events that take place, including Year 4 camp, Year 5/6 Concert, District Cross Country and the House Athletics Carnival. We have commenced some lunchtime activities for the students and  we are also exploring chess as a lunchtime activity later in the term.

It is also an important term for learning and assessment. Year 3 and 5 students will participate in NAPLAN next week. These tests provide parents and schools with an understanding of howcamp2 individual students are performing at the time of the tests in reading, writing, language conventions and numeracy. Parents will have received a letter from the school explaining the process. At Fairfield we do treat the NAPLAN process within our normal daily program and do not want the students or parents to worry unnecessarily about it.

At the end of this term, all families will receive the first formal report on their child’s learning achievement. Teachers are gathering, analysing and reflecting on student evidence to make informed and consistent judgements.

Within these reports parents are informed of their child’s achievement in relation to age-related expected level of achievement. We are focused on growth and development of every child and it is most important that we acknowledge this development at an individual child level. In Term Three, we follow up the report with a Parent Student Teacher interview.
